A smoother first day begins with the right documents, timing, luggage, and transfer plan.

Well prepared. A brighter journey.

A calm first day.
Before you sail.

A little preparation goes a long way. Use this guide to feel confident, organized, and ready to enjoy every moment from the time you arrive at the port.

Before travel

  • Complete cruise-line check-in and download or print the required boarding documents and luggage tags.
  • Confirm passport/ID, visa, vaccination, minor-consent, and destination requirements through official sources.
  • Verify the exact terminal; a city can have several terminals miles apart.
  • Reserve parking or transfers and save driver meeting instructions.
  • Arrive in the embarkation city at least one day early when practical.

Carry-on essentials

  • Passport or accepted ID, boarding documents, payment cards, and travel-protection information.
  • Medication, medical supplies, valuables, eyewear, chargers, and permitted batteries.
  • Swimwear, sunscreen, a light layer, and dinner attire if bags may arrive later.
  • Any items required for infants, accessibility, or dietary needs.

At the terminal

  • Follow cruise-line arrival-window instructions and current port signage.
  • Give checked bags only to clearly identified authorized handlers and retain valuables.
  • Keep passports and boarding documents out until onboard formalities are complete.
  • Ask for accessibility assistance at the designated point rather than waiting until the gangway.

Once onboard

  • Complete the safety drill immediately when available.
  • Confirm dining, excursions, spa, special requests, and any onboard credits.
  • Place phones in airplane mode before sailing, then connect to the ship’s Wi-Fi plan if purchased.
  • Locate the medical center, muster station, and guest-services desk.

Disembarkation planning

Do not book a tight same-day flight. Clearance, luggage, traffic, immigration, weather, and terminal changes can delay departure from the ship. Coordinate the flight, transfer, and baggage plan as one timeline.
